Terlingua – located just 12 miles from the Mexican border, Terlingua is a former mining town which some say is haunted.

Chianti Hot Springs

One of the more remote resorts in the state.  This is an excellent get away to see desert scenery and sleep under the stars.  The Chihuahuan Mountains and the Chianti Hot Springs which are around 109 degrees Fahrenheit are rumored to cure all kinds of ailments and aches.

Starlight Theatre

The Starlight Theatre is the go-to spot in Terlingua. Located around 12 miles from the Mexican border.  Terlingua is a former mining town which some people say is haunted.  The theatre is a great place to eat Tex-Mex food and listen to live bluegrass and country music.

Big Bend Big Bend National Park

You can hike, ride, or bike through stunning desert landscapes, wildlife, and plant life.  Tourists enjoy star gazing in the darkest night skies in the nation.

El Paso Museum of Art

The Museum of Art is located inside a former Greyhound station and houses a permanent collection of more than 6,000 pieces from the Byzantine era to the present.  Collections from Vany Dyck, Botticelli, and Canaletto are some of the amazing Baroque and Renaissance masterpieces found here.  The Museum also features temporary exhibits. 

Marfa Lights

Located in Marfa, Texas there is a roadside viewing area to watch these unique and unexplainable lights southeast of town.

Drive the River Road

FM-170 takes you through the southern border of West Texas to Big Bend Ranch State Park where you can have incredible views of the Rio Grande River.

Davis Mountains State Park

Nicknamed the “Texas Alps” because of the vast array of mountain, grassy lands, and trees must be seen to believed.  The top of Mount Livermore sits more than 8,000 feet.  You will find unique wildlife here too.

McDonald Observatory

Located in Fort Davis is a popular place to have a true West Texas experience.  The observatory offers watch parties where people can view the sky from one of the largest telescopes in the world.

Gage Hotel

Located in Marathon is about a 45-minute drive from Big Bend and offers first-class accommodation.  They offer a wide range of options including a saltwater pool, 27-acre botanical garden, and a nine-hole putting green complete with a fruit orchard.

Balmorhea State Park

Located in Toyahvale, Balmorhea State Park offers one of the biggest spring fed pools in the world!  This desert oasis is in the Davis Mountains and is fed by San Solomon Springs.  Have fun snorkeling or scuba diving in the aquamarine water which is around 70 degrees year-round.

Alpine

Located in the foothills of the Davis Mountains, this is a town worth visiting if you enjoy art galleries, live music and theatre.  Go downtown and view the murals, farmers market, and the cowboy cuisine

Guadalupe Mountains

Located in Dell City the Guadalupe Mountain state park combines mountains – the highest point in Texas – desert, and wilderness. If you are a hard-core climber this is a place to visit.
